Setting Up A New Small Restaurant? 2 Tips So You Can Set It Up Right

by Gilbert Lopez

If you are opening your own restaurant and it is in a small building, you need to take many things into consideration before you start setting everything up. If you do not you may purchase the wrong type of equipment which would take you a lot of time to return and exchange. You will find two tips below to help you set up your restaurant the right way.

Kitchen

The most important room in a restaurant is the kitchen. Because of this, it is vital that you purchase everything you need from the start. This will include ovens, ranges, and a grill. You will also need a cooler that allows you to reach in to remove items, as well as a walk in cooler that is much larger but allows you to house a lot of foods that need to be kept refrigerated. You also need a freezer, which could be a walk-in freezer or an upright or chest freezer.

Once you purchase these things consider all other things you will need, such as saute pans, stock pots, baking sheets and pans, saucepans, and more. Exactly what you need will depend on the type of restaurant you are opening.

If you cannot afford to purchase all kitchen equipment that you need, you can lease this equipment instead.

Dining Room

The dining room is also very important as this is where your customers will sit. Make sure you purchase enough tables and chairs. Consider if you want benches along with tables. When setting up the tables and chairs make sure you leave plenty of space between tables. This will give your customers enough room and also the waiters will have enough room to bring food to the table.

There are room dividers that you can purchase to divide up different areas of your dining area if you would like to. These dividers can be removed easily if you decide that you do not like them.

You also need to consider the type of window coverings you want on the windows in the dining room. You may also want to have blinds on the windows to make it easy to block the sun.

Talk to a restaurant equipment company to get the type of restaurant equipment that you need. You can also talk with an interior designer that has experience setting up restaurants to help you make everything perfect before you open your doors.
